Description

Amazon Solar Farm – Eastern Shore is a solar project on the Delmarva Peninsula in Accomack County, Virginia serving Amazon Web Services’ data centers under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement. Community Energy developed the project, which was the first grid-scale solar project in Virginia, and included an educational “Solar Walk” designed for school children and the public to visit and learn about the solar farm.

The solar project utilizes single-axis tracker technology to follow the sun’s path and provide high peak production. The Delmarva Peninsula site offers excellent solar resource and grid interconnection along with suitable land and economics beneficial to local landowners and communities.  Amazon Solar Farm – Eastern Shore was approved by unanimous vote of the Accomack County Board of Supervisors, and was the first project approved under the Virginia permit-by-rule regulation for Renewable Energy.
